This study showed that there were about 2,500 new cases of thyroid cancer in a sample size of over 3.7 million. The incidence of thyroid cancer in these patients was small but still real. It's important to note here that correlation does not equal causation but this is just adding to the pile of studies that suggest a link between these medications and thyroid cancer so it's definitely something that should be thought about prior to using them. Given this information, is it still worth taking medications like Wegovy, semaglutide, saxenda, and victoza? In some situations, it may make sense but my recommendation is to always try to lose weight with diet and exercise first. If you are going to use these medications then do your best to use them in the short term for no more than 1 year. This will minimize the negative side effects while maximizing their benefits.
