By combining both you are helping your body burn calories more effectively AND keeping your metabolism running high by building more - or simply maintaining your existing- metabolically active lean muscle mass. To wrap up, it's important to note all of your workouts - resistance training or aerobics - won't produce any weight or fat loss if you don't also pair them with a healthy diet that includes a caloric deficit.
