It can be quite challenging when you take your prescription to the drugstore, and they tell you the co-pay is $300-400 a month. Is that sustainable for many of us? No!! Why does this drug, which can be a life changer, cost so much for weight loss, and the co-pay is so low for those individuals who are taking it for diabetes, pre-diabetes, or other approved illnesses. We must advocate for ourselves, adolescents, and others who are suffering from weight or obesity and not getting support or guidance from their healthcare providers. More education needs to happen. Each individual needs to know that sometimes starting out needs to be slow, and there may be minimal results, plus adverse events like nausea and vomiting.
